Arabic to Urdu translator
Arabic to Urdu translation starts in the box below: paste Arabic, choose the dialect it is written in, and get Urdu in Urdu script. Under it the tool shows your Arabic with full harakat and a Latin transliteration, so a line you could not vowel yourself becomes readable. Free, no account, nothing stored.
Translations are generated by an AI model and can be wrong; the Standard Arabic line is there so you can compare. Up to 1000 characters at a time.
What you get on this page
- Arabic into Urdu from Standard Arabic or from Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Saudi, Iraqi and Moroccan text.
- Your Arabic repeated with vowel marks and in chat-style Latin letters (3 for ayn, 7 for the hard h).
- A Listen button that reads the Arabic with your device's voice, useful for checking recitation of a short line.
- Up to 1,000 characters per request; the swap arrow gives you Urdu to Arabic.
Why Arabic to Urdu is easier and harder than it looks
Urdu is written in the same script family as Arabic, which is why an Urdu reader can sound out an Arabic page. But the two languages are unrelated: Arabic is Semitic, Urdu is Indo-Aryan, and the shared letters hide different grammar.
- Letters that look alike, sound different. Urdu keeps ث ذ ص ض ط ظ ع in loanwords but pronounces them as s, z, s, z, t, z and a weak glottal stop, and adds letters Arabic lacks: پ چ ٹ ڈ ڑ گ ژ ں ے.
- Shared words, shifted meanings. Urdu took thousands of Arabic words, mostly through Persian: kitaab, waqt, duniya, sawaal, jawaab, mohabbat. Some drifted: Urdu kaafi usually means "quite", Arabic كَافِي (kaafee) means "enough".
- Word order. Arabic puts the verb early; Urdu puts it last (main kitaab parhta hoon, "I book read"). A literal rendering is unreadable, so the model has to rebuild each sentence.
- Gender. Both languages mark the speaker's gender on the verb, so an Arabic line from a woman becomes Urdu with the feminine ending (parhti hoon) automatically.

Tips for better results
Tell the tool the dialect of the text: a Gulf employer's message and a Quranic verse are read differently. For religious or classical text keep Standard Arabic selected; the harakat line is then your voweled copy, and the transliteration page explains the Latin spelling it uses. Paste complete sentences; a bare unvoweled word has several readings and the model has to guess. Names stay names: an Arabic مُحَمَّد comes out as محمد, not as a translated word. To reply, switch to Urdu to Arabic. If you work in the Gulf, the Saudi Arabic and English to Arabic pages cover the dialect menu.
