Arabic to English translator

Arabic to English translation happens in the box below: paste the Arabic, tell the tool which dialect it is in, press Translate. Besides the English you get your own text back with full harakat and a transliteration, so you can read aloud what you pasted. Free, no account, nothing stored.

Standard Arabic (MSA) with harakat
Pronunciation (transliteration)

Translations are generated by an AI model and can be wrong; the Standard Arabic line is there so you can compare. Up to 1000 characters at a time.

Paste any Arabic: Standard or dialect

The text can be a news paragraph in Standard Arabic, a WhatsApp message from Cairo or a comment under a Moroccan video. The menu labeled Dialect of your text tells the model what to expect. شُو (shuu) means what in Syria and the Gulf, إِيه (eeh) means the same in Egypt, and وِش (wish) in Riyadh. Set the dialect right and the English comes out closer to what the writer meant.

If you do not know where the writer is from, leave Standard Arabic selected; the model still reads most dialect text, with less to go on. The reverse direction, with the dialect menu on the output side, is the English to Arabic page.

Your text comes back with harakat

Most Arabic you receive is written without vowel marks, which is why a heritage speaker who understands every spoken word can still stall on a short message. Under the English translation the tool shows the Arabic you pasted with full harakat added, the way a children's book or a Quran page prints it. كتبت on its own could be katabtu, katabta, katabti or katabat; voweled, كَتَبْتِ is clearly you (a woman) wrote.

Harakat can be switched off with the toggle under the result if you only want the clean text. The marks are placed by the model from context. An unusual name or a word that can be read two ways may get the wrong vowel; the English translation next to it tells you which reading was chosen.

Read it aloud: transliteration and Listen

The line marked Pronunciation of your text spells the Arabic in Latin letters so you can say it back. The spelling is the chat style young Arabs use: 3 for ayn, 7 for the breathy h, an apostrophe for a glottal stop, doubled letters for long vowels. It follows the dialect you selected. Egyptian قَلْبِي shows as 'albi, Standard Arabic as qalbi. The whole scheme, letter by letter, is on the transliteration Arabic to English page.

Listen plays the Arabic with your browser's own Arabic voice; the Copy button takes the English together with the pronunciation line.

Arabic to English vs Google Translate

For reading an Arabic website Google Translate is fine, and for a scanned letter it is the only free choice. What it does not do is help you read the Arabic yourself.

Examples: Arabic to English

Standard Arabic lines with harakat, the pronunciation the tool shows, and the English. Endings change with the gender of the person addressed, which is why two rows carry a label.

Dialect text differs mostly in everyday words: an Egyptian friend writes عَايِز (3aayiz) for I want where the news anchor says أُرِيدُ (ureedu). Dialect pages such as Egyptian Arabic to English and Moroccan Arabic to English list more of these.

Limits: length, accuracy, what it cannot read

Up to 1,000 characters per translation, roughly 150 words of Arabic; split a longer text into paragraphs. The site has a single free daily limit; when it is used up the page tells you and asks you to come back tomorrow. No accounts, no credits.

The English comes from an AI language model and can miss the point, most often with jokes, slang, poetry, religious or legal wording and with dialects that vary by region. Treat it as a good first reading, not as a certified translation. The tool reads typed or pasted text only: a photo of a sign, a scan or handwriting cannot be uploaded, and there is no voice input. Nothing you paste is stored.

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate Arabic to English?

Paste the Arabic into the box at the top of this page, pick the dialect of the text if you know it, and press Translate or Ctrl+Enter. The English appears first, then your Arabic with vowel marks and its pronunciation.

Can Google translate Arabic?

Yes, Google Translate handles Arabic to English, including documents and photos. It reads all Arabic as Standard Arabic, adds no vowel marks and does not transliterate the text you pasted, which is what this page adds.

How do I change Google from Arabic to English?

Open google.com, go to Settings (bottom of the page or the gear icon), choose Languages, and pick English; on Android or iPhone the Google app follows the phone's language in the system settings. This changes the interface language, not any translation.

How do I write Arabic in Google Docs?

Add an Arabic keyboard layout in your operating system (Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android each have one) and switch to it inside the document; Docs sets the right-to-left direction by itself. If you cannot type Arabic, translate your sentence on the English to Arabic page and paste the result.

Is the Arabic to English translation certified?

No. It is machine translation by an AI model, meant for messages, reading and study. Contracts, visas, diplomas and medical papers need a human translator.

How accurate is it for Egyptian, Levantine or Moroccan text?

Everyday messages usually come out right once the dialect is selected. Slang, sarcasm and local words can be missed, so for anything important compare with a native speaker. Moroccan Darija is the hardest of the seven for the model.

Can it read a photo or a handwritten note in Arabic?

No. There is no image upload, OCR or handwriting recognition. Type or paste the text; if you have only a picture, Google Translate's camera mode can extract the text, which you can then paste here to get harakat and pronunciation.
